Kara pori (Puffed rice) / Spicy Murmura

Best and easy evening snack is Kara pori. Pori is nothing but puffed rice. These puffed rice are available in all Indian stores. We can use this with many other combinations. But best of all that is kara pori. Noth Indians call it as murmur. This snack is more good than chips varieties. This is also crispy and spicy.

I first tasted this when i was in 5 th grade. I still remember the man in cycle who come everyday to sell kara pori. Now i do it at home once a week. Lets learn it.

Ingredients:

Puffed rice - 2 cup
Chili powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric powder -  pinch
Hing - pinch
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urud dhal - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt as required

Method:

1) Heat oil in a tawa. Splatter mustard seed and urud dhal.

2) Once splattered add curry leaves, turmeric powder, hing and chili powder with salt as required.

3) Now add pori or murmura and reuse the heat to simmer.

4) Mix well until evenly colored. Mix at intervals for 1 to 2 mins.

5) Serve hot.

Note:

1) Do not do it in high heat. After adding pori reduce the heat to avoid burning.

2) Adjust spice to your taste.

3) Instead of urud dhal you can also add roasted gram or ground nut.
